Deep Link And SEO Search Engines

Deep Link And SEO Search Engines

After Google changed the algorithm last month, I started paying more attention to Search engine optimization. I have been studying it almost everyday, as I want to be ahead of the game.  I have changed my professional SEO strategies, simply because I want to depend on myself for my search engine optimization.  I realize social influence and bigotry is always chasing human spirit and self sufficiency is the most important key of doing things that earns self respect in my own eyes.

Since we all are born with a social instinct I still love my blog network and want to connect with them on a daily basis, they are my Internet family and I can not live without them.

So, today I want to write about my three days study on SEO link building. I studied in detail about all kind of links and how to use them for great SERP and seeing your pages on the top of the top page of the top Search Engine.

Noticed how many times have I used the “top” in the last phrase, 3 times.  So this is the ultimate position for your blog where it can be.
WordPress blog usually have this position, but sometimes Google brings them some notches down to make the owner realize that you are not paying attention to your site.

The most important factor that determines the ranking of a post is by its contents and I have written a few post on that topic, it is time for another major search engine optimization strategy and that is LINKS.

Link in general is a connection between two related objects.  In computer technology the word Link is used almost in similar fashion.  A link connects to a

a. relevant topics
b. similar key words
c. a blog to another blog
d. a blog to a static site
e. a blog to an article

Links are used on the web from the beginning of HTML when all every one wanted to learn HTML.  Links are very important for SERP, SEO and other important functions that determine PR.

Therefore, along with unique and quality contents, that you can produce on the web, links are your best friends for your blogs and ecommerce sites.

There are several kind of links used for this purpose.  Most of us know about them.  But I noticed that Deep Links have not been the topic of general discussion.  So Today I want to talk about Deep Linking.

Deep link connects relevant keywords to related contents within your own site.  This way you are using your own sites juice or equity for optimization.  So what is the gain here, when you are not adding anything new to your site?  We are energizing previously created juice to better SERP.  In order to understand this you must first understand how website links affect SEO.

SEO is an extensively programmed, technology, and it is much more than just optimizing important segments of your blog structure.  It has to do with calculations based on several formula variable, which are not open to a naked eye, that is as non techie as me. But common sense and logic can make us feel that these techniques are right.

Here is an example of it.  Suppose I wrote a post on my site about “how to guest post”, a while ago.  Now after few months when I am writing another post on my blog and the topic is ‘blog contents” and in order to give an example, I used the phrase “How to guest post” and created a link to connect both phrases, when Google indexes my post it places a vote to my current post for optimization, because of the similarity of the phrase.  This is what is deep linking.

Incorporate your synergistic deep link building SEO strategy throughout your site, not simply to one or two pages. But link to various destinations of your site. Every site creates the density of these deep links, as determined by the owner of the site.

Some link expert believe that deep links are best once used within your site but at the same time some other SEO expert say that it can be used for outbound links to articles and other blogs.  When you do it for the other sites, do it in partnership.

Plan a strategy and keep it an activity for the long haul, make sure to keep track of your links and do not ever send more out bound links than in bond. Quality and quantity matters. Less quantity and more quality with planned and effective relevant words. Deep linking with content  pages is a very effective SEO.  It is said this strategy is liked by your networking site friends as equally benefits both partners and much easier to get link this way, even from bigger sites than your own.

Major Benefits of Deep Links

Deep linking creates a wonderful impression for search engines as you are linking to relevant contents and through out the website, not just the home page of the site.  As it is said that a link is like a vote and some links weight more and some less, when we deep link we deliver the message to Google and other search engines equally that we have important contents throughout the site and not just the home page.  This increases the authority of the entire site which is the goal for online search engine optimization.

2.Deep linking increases the relevancy of the keywords chosen to link.  By linking directly to all the pages with the special content or keywords as your anchor text you are increasing overall website’s relevancy.

3.  These deep links create a good website navigational structure that helps search engines to get the invisible pages indexed to improve over all visibility of the blog.

4.  When people are searching to look for information, by writing the keyword, your deep pages can easily come up to be read for information.  It will benefit you and the information seeker equally. As the information seeker will not have to go page by page to find the exact information that he/she is looking for.

5.  Deep links will improve your website authority relevancy and visibility in the SERP. This will help you get the ultimate goal of your reader being satisfied with the information and revisit your blog to read more .

Deep linking is good but excessively deep linking is not a good practice as you know how easy it is to include over doing to spamming.  Therefore be careful and use it in the following situations

a. Deep link when Url is relevant to the phrase or keyword
b. Make sure not to add too many deep links to one post.
c. Deep link and link out to others at an even ratio, or choose to add
less external links
d. Use it if you need traffic to all pages besides the first page

Deep linking is about gaining strategic advantages, not huge leaps ahead.  Deep linking won’t work overnight and it won’t land you on the front page for competitive keywords.  It is simply one more tool you can use to give yourself the upper hand in SEO battle.

Legally Deep Linking has been in question in several law suits involving some corporate disputes.  Large corporations argue that deep linking unfairly eliminates that ability of the home page to continue to brand building and website ranking.

Deep linking is legal in Germany while debate continues in the United States.  Federal court in San Francisco passed a law on July 14, 2003 against it in DITTO.com case.  Big organization still don’t feel very good about deep links.  But small business and blogs use this Internet technology all the time for best ranking.

    Hi Fran,

How are you? I hope all is going good. Very good informative post.

I never new about Deep Linking before and what it means to SEO.

Just can’t forget, it’s good to have more internal links than out bound links and not to deep link excessively. 50/50 is ok too, if you must.

Thanks so much for this helpful strategy. The more one learns the more powerful they become.

    Hello Fran,

Are you only talking about internal deep linking? Because, external deeplinks (that is those links from other blogs that link to deep page on your blog) can have a very big importance and seo, and are the most sought after links.

Usually a blog best assets are deeplinks, because this links represent the blogposts and promoting them is the wisest choice.

I wish you good luck with you new SEO strategy Fran!

      Hi Alex:

I personally use 25% external links and the rest internal, as I want to sore my blogs juice to optimize. ( this is based on my own understanding per my readings)
But deep links on a moderate basis are good for internal and external both.

I will like to know how you feel about that.

      Thanks for stopping by.

    Hey there;

Really enjoyed the article. Very informative Fran. Ya know, I thought I knew a lot about linking strategies before but after reading this post, I found out that I was still unaware of quite of bit of terms and strategies. I had never heard about the term deep links before. Now I know what it is about thanks to you Fran.

It is beneficial to have more internal links than outgoing links but I am not sure about the 50/50 ratio…shouldn’t it be more like 80/20 ratio as this plays a great role in decreasing the bounce rate in your site.

Thanks Fran. Talk to you soon.

    Hi Fran

I remember when my blogging buddies taught me about this awhile back. And I have noticed that people are now clicking onto older posts to read them or staying on my site for longer to link to the other posts after reading the newest one published.

It definitely helps and I’m glad I was taught about it fairly early on in my blogging journey. Enjoyed your sharing about the importance of it in SEO. Thanks Fran.

    Hi Fran,
As an aside totally off topic when you said “I realize social influence and bigotry is always chasing human spirit and self sufficiency is the most important key of doing things that earns self respect in my own eyes.”, you reminded of an essay by Emerson on self reliance which had a profound impact on me early in life.
I always thought that deep linking was good because it kept the reader more engaged with one’s blogsite so ,for me,SEO is an added bonus. The first blogsite I visited with any regularity was Steve Pavlina’s on personal growth. There were so many links embedded in his posts that I was reading 5 posts before exiting. This is very useful and well explained! Thanks and hope you are doing well.

I had read Steve Pavlina’s blog posts. I have read a few books of Personal development, including Think and grow rich, Law of attraction, Denise waitely,
Mike Bresca, and lots of lots of blogs. I know personal development in detail.

I have heard the term deep linking many times but never realized just what it was. I have used it a few times and did not know that is what I was doing.

After reading your excellent explanation, I want to use it more.

I see now why they call it deep linking and how it can help with SEO.

    Hi Fran,

Deep linking is very important not only for SEO, also for humans, letting know other articles hidden, posted earlier.

Talking about interlinking, I think that some your internal links like http://www.franstips.com/?p=331 or other like the /?p=497 should have anchor texts instead of the numbers. This will result in a more natural way to link.

    Have a great week!

    Cheers,

I thing google is changing for retreiving more relevant results to searchers. No matter what could change in google’s algorithm, I think content will always be king.

Deep linking is very important for onsite SEO. Ecommerce sites do this naturally by displaying “Related Products” in a product page.

Yup, deep linking from your pages is nice, but what’s even better is deep linking from other websites. People make the common mistake to only link to their index (well, probably because it’s easier), but linking to internal pages can make a kill, i’ve actually once seen a page with PR5 while the index of the website had PR4 :)
